Chrysler actually sold all of the 132 Ghia Limousines, built between the years of 57 to 65, at a loss of several thousand dollars each. The availability of an Imperial based Limo at realistic cost was thought necessary by Chrysler to maintain the Imperial name. The most cost efficient and quality choice, being Ghia of Italy to perform the conversions. Ghia's high standards of craftsmanship were by then, considered a lost art in America.
